125 Year Committee Meeting:
On Friday 14th May 2010, the Past and Present Committee members of Bray Emmets attended a special meeting to start our 125 year celebrations. The highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of our officer’s boards in the clubhouse. The boards were unveiled by our club presidents Tom Walsh and Jackie Napier. It was great to have some of the old guard return which added to the occasion. Seamus McCormack set the marker as he is now nearing his 90th year and still going strong.
Our thanks to Gabriel Plower and Conor Johnson for organising the night. Also to Eileen Plower for putting on a great spread. We look forward to other events which will be coming up over the next few months.

Match Reports
Junior B Football:
Bray Emmets 1-07,
St. Patrick’s 2-11
This week we travelled to Wicklow Town with a weakened team. It was to be a game of two halves with a strong wind blowing straight down the pitch. This along with the rain made conditions far from ideal for good football. We struggled at times in the first half and we were well down at half time. However this team is starting to show Great Spirit and teamwork, and in the second half we worked hard and scored 1-05 to St. Patrick’s 2 points. Colm Murphy, Mark Mulvaney and Declan Snow were excellent in defence with Jonathan Scanlon covering a lot of ground in the middle. Brendan Snow, Sean Liddy and Johnny O’Leary were working hard up front. Scorers for Bray Emmets: C. Loy 1-0, J. O’Leary 0-2, D. Snow 0-2, S. Liddy 0-2, N. Mullen 0-1. Team K. Hillick, S. Ebbs, K. Donegan, M. Mulvaney, D. Snow, J. Byrne, C. Murphy, J. Scanlon, R. Murphy, B. Snow, N. Mullen, S. Liddy, M. Doyle, C. Loy, J. O’Leary. Sub N. McManus.
Next Match Thursday 20th May v Eire Og in Greystones 7.15pm. Training every Monday 8pm Old Conna. New players always welcome.
U14 Hurling
Bray Emmets; 5-12,
Eire OG; 1-0.
The U14 hurlers had a comprehensive away win over Eire Og last Wednesday. There were some excellent passing movements which led to many scores. One of these came late in the first half from Seanie Maloney who spotted Donnacha O’Midheach all alone on the edge of the square. Donnacha’s first touch was impeccable and blasted the ball to the net giving the Eire Og goalkeeper no chance.
Even though the defence were quiet for most of the game, Ishmael Mnensa, Patrick Michel and Peter Conroy made sure we were never in any real danger. Eoin McCormick and Seanie Maloney mastered the midfield area. Leading scorers were Eoin with 1-3, Michael Boland 0-3, Cathal McAodha 0-3, goals from Donnacha O’Midheach, Gavin Dowling, Padraig Doyle and Dylan Terry, Seanie Maloney 0-2 and a point from Thomas Foley. Final score was Bray Emmets 5-12, Eire Og 1-0.
Team Building Exercise
On Sunday we were away to Waterford on a team-building exercise. The weather was glorious. Dunhill/Fenor, located outside Waterford city in a beautiful part of the country, were our hosts and organised a fantastic day. There was some very skilful hurling by both sides. Some of the Bray Emmets players were a bit overwhelmed by the physical hurling of the Waterford lads and didn’t get stuck in enough. The full back for Dunhill/Fenor was outstanding and time and again cleared the lines. But a delightful movement was created towards the end of the game. Peter Conroy played a wing ball to Michael Boland who pulled the full back out of position, passed the ball to an unmarked Donnacha O’Midheach who finished the ball to the net. Unfortunately, our defenders had too many goals scored against them simply because they allowed the forwards to get in behind them on too many occasions. At the end Dunhill/Fenor deservedly came out on top. But winning wasn’t important, our players had a great learning experience and enjoyed the fun on the day. Best for Bray Emmets were Jack Fitzgerald, Ishmael Mnensa Peter Conroy and Patrick Michel in defence and Liam Benville, Shane Lohan and Michael Boland in the forward line. Leading scorer was Michael Boland with 0-7 points.
U10 Camogie
Bray Emmets U10 Camogie team competed in last Saturdays blitz in Annacurra. Bray played four games against – Donard, Arklow, Annacurra and Kilcoole. It was the girl’s first match of the season and for some of them it was there first ever competitive game. Bray played Arklow in the first game and edged a hard fought battle to come through 0-2 to 0-1. In the second game Bray came quickly out of the block to defeat a spirited Donard/Dunlavin team by 0-7 to 0-2. The third match against Kilcoole produced an enthralling battle which went right down to the wire. Kilcoole were the better team in the first half leading by a margin of 0-4 to 0-1 at half time. However, an outstanding performances in the second half from all the girls brought Bray right back into it to only to be edged by a narrow margin of 0-6 to 0-4. The final game epitomised the determination and focus of the team when they came from behind to defeat an experienced Annacurra team by 0-6 to 0-4. This outstanding team was composed of Claire Benville 0-2, Emily Mc Kenna 0-2, Maeve O’ Doherty 0-2, Brona Murphy 0-1, Eleanor O’ Carroll 0-4, Daisy King 0-2, Ali Byrne 0-2, Doireann Ni Dhunai 0-3 , Shauna Ryan 0-1, and Siorfa Ni Mhidigh 0-1. We would like to thank all the parents who made the trip and a special thanks to all the ladies in Annacurra who organised the blitz so well.
Under 9 Hurling and Football
The Under 9 Squad played Hurling and Football against near neighbours St Olafs’ last Tuesday in a very finely balanced, good-spirited contest. It was our first time to challenge Philip Morris’ charges and they proved to be a group with both talent and Endeavour. Hurling was served up for starters to the brisk fan base, followed by Footballing delights.
Catching the eye for one Bray team was the pacy Conor Dowling, Eoin Fitzsimons’ determination and an energetic Rory Lambe. On the other team, Michael Timmons hurled fearlessly, Michael Connolly too, undaunted after injury and a stylish Oisín Drury.
Emmet Bhré – Under 9. Aaron Graham, Brian Nesbitt, Conor Dowling, Craig Pritchard, David Maloney, David Nesbitt, Eoin Fitzsimons, Gavin Henderson, Jamie Baguley, Joe Dillon, Michael Connolly, Michael Timmons, Nick Hederman, Oisín Drury, Rory Lambe, Sarah Lambe, Seán McDonagh.
Beimid ag traenáil arís ar an Satharn beag seo. Go dtí sin.
