Our junior football team were beaten by 2 points by Dunlavin in the final of the John Stone West Football League in Valleymount on Sunday. From the start of the game Dunlavin were always in control and were ahead at half time 5 points to 4, after they had missed many score-able frees and we had missed 2 goals one by John Keogh and the other by Mark Ryan. Dunlavin went further ahead after the break we were always chasing the game they won the game on a score line of 0-10 to 0-8, John Keogh scoring 7 points and Darren Hobson the other point. Congratulation to Dunlavin and well done to the Valleymount club for providing officials for the game and providing everyone with tea and sandwiches after the game.
Our club wish to convey their deepest sympathy with the following families the Doyle Family, Clonmore on the death of Garry Doyle to all his brothers, sisters, mother, friends and relations our sympathy, also to the McDonald family Tynock on the death of Sheila McDonald to her son Seamus, daughters, Vicky, Annette, Sheila, her brother John Duffy, relatives and friends our sympathy.
Also our sympathy to the Fagan family Tynaclash Kiltegan on the death of Peter Fagan to his brother Paddy, sister Mary all his relatives and friends. Peter played in goals for our club many times when the present club was formed and played in many fund-raising events with the Kiltegan over 40 teams in the early 80’s, he also played with Tynock team in the past. Peter was interred in Tynaclash cemetery on Monday.
Club membership and gym fees are now due cost €30 per person or €50 for family. Fees can be paid to Chairman Pat Judy Keogh, Colm Doyle or Edel Wynne.
Our Club wish Harry Murphy, Gavin Wynne and all the back room team, Seanie and Rory on the team the best of luck on Sunday when they start their league campaign against Waterford in Aughrim on Sunday, also best of luck to Manager of the County under 21 football team Damien Byrne and player member Ronan Byrne whey they play Carlow in Baltinglass on Wednesday night.
Our senior football team play St. Patrick’s in Wicklow Town in their first game in the New Senior League on Saturday we wish them the best of luck.
Kiltegan Camogie; Our intermediate team play Ballinacor in the first league game of the year in Kiltegan on Sunday at 11.30am. After having no team last year this is an important event for the club all support would be appreciated for the girls.
The club are organising a major fund-raising event with Rathdangan Dramatic Society in Rathdangan Hall on Saturday 10th March to raise much needed funds for the club your support would be appreciated more details from any committee member.
