Late late rally sees Loreto into Junior A final

Loreto College Bray  4-4   Colaiste Bhride Carnew 2-9

With less than five minutes remaining in this thrilling Girls Junior Football A semi final, played at Bray Emmets, Colaiste Bhride looked set to qualify for the final with a six point lead but a late Loreto rally yielded 2-1 to snatch victory.

The Carnew school looked the better side in the first half with Eimear McCrea starring and led by 2-4 to 1-0 at the interval. Loreto improved in the second half but the Carnew school kept picking off the points to maintain a good lead. Both sets of forwards missed many scoring chances as they were put under pressure by hard tackling defenders.

Colaiste Bhride led by 2-9 to 2-3 with three minutes to go but a Lauren Barry goal gave the Bray school a lifeline. Another incisive attack saw Danika Goulding find the net for the equaliser. Extra time seemed to be looming but but the last attack of the game saw Allanah Conroy kick the winning point for Loreto.

Scorers for Loreto were Alannah Conroy and Lauren Barry 1-1 each, Danika Goulding and Juliette Fortune 1-0 each, Seona Michel and Ali Farrell 0-1 each.

Colaiste Bhride replied per Eimear McCrea 2-3, Keva Murphy 0-3, Charlotte Redmond 0-2, Caoimhe Roche 0-1.
