









On the eve of the throw in of the 2010 Coogan Hardware Senior Football Championship, Wicklow GAA Online spoke to former Wicklow player and more recently selector, Philip McGillicuddy to get his opinion on the upcoming years football.

Wicklow start out in search of the TG4 Leinster Junior Championship title, when they take on Offaly in the preliminary round on Sunday next, the prize awaiting the winners is a place in the semi-final, where Wexford are waiting in the wings. Wicklow have an added incentive on Sunday next, where a win for the Garden County would mean a home fixture in the semi final.
Wicklow will hope for a repeat of their hard fought qualifier win over Cavan in Aughrim last year when the sides meet again in Breffni Park in the opening round of the 2010 qualifiers. Wicklow will feel like they left it behind them today in Tullamore as Denis Glennon struck an injury time winner to give the Lake County a hard fought win in the second minute of added time. Paul Earls had only seconds before sent the Garden County fans into a frenzy with a late goal to tie up the match.
An old rivalry will be renewed on Sunday when Wicklow set off on the Championship trail again looking to erase memories of the untidy defeat they suffered against Westmeath last year at the same stage of the competition. Full match preview.

The Wicklow hurlers made the short trip to Newbridge today as they looked to build on last weekend’s victory over Mayo. The starting line up showed plenty of experience as Wicklow tried to maintain their 100% record, however a late rally by the Lillywhites would effectively decide the game.
